I'd like to take a moment to address something that I don't believe has yet been properly stated on this site:
The Jellie Frontier contains no content created by or derived from generative AI.
My overall stance on generative AI can be summed up as:
- At best: "I'm skeptical of its benefits"
- At worst: "These tools are primarily used for flooding the world with derivative garbage built on the back of intellectual theft, the exploitation of the open web, and extreme environmental cost."
The few times I have tried to utilize LLMs as a technical tool, I find their hallicinations so frequent, agegious, and surreptitious, that I spend just as much time verifying the accuracy of an AI output as I would have just writing from scratch in the first place. Even if generative AI progresses to a point of quality that I could reliably use it to generate content, I still wouldn't.
Firstly, I wouldn't learn anything if the LLM just spat out the answer for me. Secondly, I'm making this stuff because I like no, not because I have to.
In the end, the platforms I create and host are designed for human expression and connection, things to which generative AI is antithetical. No AI was used to generate any of the content or code I publish here. However, I will add the following disclaimer:
I have not (and couldn't with certainty) verified that the 3rd party applications or dependencies I host (such as the binaries themselves inside the game servers or the social networks) have no generative AI content. I can only speak for the code and content I have written.
